Progesterone

Understand the option

What is Progesterone?

An oral hormone medication that can help protect the uterine lining when estrogen is part of your menopause care.

How it works

A companion to estrogen.

Estrogen can stimulate growth of the uterine lining. Progesterone helps counter that effect, reducing the risk of excessive thickening.

Estrogen stimulates lining growth

Estrogen therapy can cause the uterine lining to grow.

Progesterone counteracts that growth

Acts on the uterine lining to counter estrogen’s growth-stimulating effect.

Helps protect against excessive thickening

Reduces the risk of endometrial hyperplasia when used alongside estrogen as prescribed.

Its place in your care

Protection that complements your hormone care.

Care built around you

What will your physician review?

Your physician reviews how progesterone fits with your hormone treatment and individual health needs.

01 · Your symptoms

Your cycle and history

Share your menstrual history, unexpected bleeding, and whether you have had a hysterectomy.

02 · Your health history

Your current treatment

List your medications, estrogen treatment, allergies, and any history of blood clots, liver disease, or hormone-sensitive cancer.

03 · Your care plan

Your treatment plan

Discuss how treatment fits your routine and any previous side effects, including dizziness or drowsiness.

Benefits, evidence & important considerations

Progesterone is not appropriate for everyone. Your physician reviews the benefits and risks of your hormone regimen. Oral capsules can cause dizziness or drowsiness and are commonly prescribed at bedtime. Some formulations contain peanut oil; tell your physician and pharmacist about all allergies.

How do I get started?

Complete your secure Progesterone intake with your health history, menstrual history, current medications, and any estrogen therapy. A licensed physician reviews your responses before recommending a treatment plan.
